Software Projects was the name of a computer game development company which employed Manic Miner developer Matthew Smith. After leaving Bug-Byte as a freelance developer, Smith was able to take the rights to his recently developed Manic Miner game with him, due to an oversight in his freelance contract. Software Projects was then able to market and publish the hit game separately from Bug-Byte.

Conversions of both Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy to the Dragon were completed by Roy Coates using a Dragon running FLEX - but without access to Mathew Smith's source code - The game was created by playing the Sinclair Spectrum version and copying the behaviour and graphics by hand. Despite the Dragon 32 having less RAM than the Spectrum 48 Roy Coates managed to add a few additional levels to both Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy.
